Wanasom Wellness & Holistic Herbal Resort

“HERB” will be the first thing that pops into our mind, If we think about vital natural resource that is beneficial to our health. Mae-Fah-Luang university in Chiang Rai, a province located at the top of Thailand, is one of the biggest herb growing areas in the country. MFU has developed its own herb research institute to study and develop its herbal garden’s productivity leading to the establishment of “Wanasom Resort”. Because of an increase in wellness tourists and the province’s project towards public health, the resort aims to be a destination of peaceful soul and wellness including both physical and mental health. Wanasom wellness and holistic herbal resort, offers “spiritual retreat” which is an integration of Lanna’s knowledge called ‘Lanna retreat’. Moreover, there is “Herbal experience hall” which is a learning space encouraging people to study about herbs by self-study. Especially, The geography of Chiang Rai provides natural healing atmosphere which is crucial for this project since Chiang Rai is rich in peaceful nature and beautiful tradition.

The concept of the design is to combine natural environment with Akha culture, the original northern tribe,by blending old-fashioned and modern colors, textures, and materials together. Akha’s culture and tradition will be delivered by elements and decoration in each area.
